NICKY BOMBA’s BUSTAMENTO
Nicky Bomba has jumped on his musical boat again to deliver a party filled island adventure with his new band BUSTAMENTO. A tropical shaking six piece that pays homage to the upbeat rhythms of the Caribbean, covering the Calypso, Mento, Early Reggae and Ska styles.
CREPES
Channeling inspirations as diverse as DEVO, Gary Numan and Cass McCombs, Crepes’ retro-edged pop ranges from the jaunty, surf-glazed jangle of "Cold Summers", to the dreamy and introspective synth strains of "Size of Your Town". Led by the fanciful charm of singer/multi-instrumentalist Tim Karmouche, Crepes came about in Ballarat, Australia through high-school friends Nick (drums) and Pat Robbins (bass). The band later grew to include lead guitarist Sam Cooper and keyboardist Jackson Dahlenburg, after relocating to Melbourne.
THE BEACHNIKS
The Beachniks never play in Melbourne, (which they deem to be evil).
Instead, they have been playing and living around Lorne for about 22 years. They describe their music as ‘Nu-Surf’ which is a blend (in equal amounts) of Dub reggae, 60’s garage surf-rock , folk-pop and jazz.
They have released 2 CD’s on the Jazzhead label and in addition to this, Jeff Raglus the bands trumpet player - and sometimes leader, has his own solo release ‘Bellatrix’ which heavily features The Beachniks.
They are best known to play as an electric 4 piece with Simon Dawe on drums, Jeff Raglus on trumpet, guitar and vocals, Randall Forsythe on guitar and vocals and Evan Jones on bass.
SAGAMORE
Having spent the last two and half years pursuing inspiration across continents, and realizing their musical vision in the hills of Aireys Inlet, Sagamore are back with their debut album, Charlemont Reef. The resulting collection of songs span from heartfelt, blue eyed soul to afro funk laden grooves. The album's eclectic mix of sounds is banded together by timeless songwriting and thoughtful arrangements; a product of the group's long running friendship and mutual, musical understanding.
Save for an annual summer show at the Wye River Pub, Sagamore have withheld from regular live performances while working on the production of their debut record. However, with Charlemont Reef set to be released on Melbourne label Dusky Tracks in the latter half of 2017, the band is gearing up to hit the stage once more and launch the album into the outside world. With a swagger of new songs and a great desire to share them with audiences near and far, the release of Charlemont Reef is shaping up to be an exciting and much anticipated milestone, in the musical journey of Sagamore.
THE FILLMORES
The Fillmores play a brand of honest and catchy guitar rock centred around the sincere yet sarcastic song writing of brothers Jack and Seamus Fillmore.
Never taking themselves too seriously, the brothers claim to be “raised by a colony of seals off the South West Victorian coast, only learning English through the Paul Kelly songbook and The Go-Between’s Greatest Hits”. Emerging from Bass Strait in their late teens, the boys moved to inner-north Melbourne to start another indie band comprised of white guys in black skinny jeans. Due to a lack of reproductive efforts on their parent’s behalf, The Fillmore Brothers consisted of just two people, but efforts to clone the Fillmore gene have
been successful and a live band has formed.
The boys released their debut EP ‘A Quick Cuppa with The Fillmore Brothers’ in early 2018, 16 minutes of sunny pop songs about love, hate and coffee. This was followed shorty by 2019’s ‘Learning To Love The Fillmore Brothers’ a sincere yet sarcastic meditation on love and all things above.

THE RANK OUTSIDERS
The Rank Outsiders are four seasoned musos cobbled together from the Big Smoke to The Great Ocean Rd. They love nothing more than the sound of vintage guitars played through fine amplification, a little denim…and a smattering of facial hair.
Schooled in the great deeds of acts such as SRV, early ZZ Top, Freddie King, Clapton, The Allman Bros, Jimi Hendrix, Los Lobos, Georgia Satellites and the original Fleetwood Mac to name a few, the boys deploy a classy trove of their own tunes at every opportunity and can delve into an extensive repertoire of blues and R’n’B tunes when required.
VINI MELZAK
Guitar devotee since five and performing from 15 years, Vini Melzak began playing his own compositions with his band Antipoison in melb’s late 80's live circuit. Working from his white zone studios, Vini sessioned for David Thrussell and collaborated with Warren Ellis. in the 90’s after performing in the middle east, Vini returned to the Otway’s (sw vic) to meld his punk roots with local rhythm & blues band Brothers Butt and The Howlin’ Wind Band before starting the Scuzrock Power Trio Year Zero. After a brief (seven year) stint back in Melbourne performing with Deep Sea Plaza, Understorey and Kate Grealy, Vini returned to the Otway’s in 2006.
Unintentional keyboard dub wiz, vocalist & percussionist with Spyndrift for 10 years, Vini brings his stylistic virtuosity back to the fretboard with his conspicuously slacker vocals and surreal lyrical imagery. on stage with a group of special guests to tease out some j’unk (jazz/punk) grooves, Vini is currently in the studio with producer ‘dr livingstoned’ working on a new album and single due out soon.
ALISTER TURRILL
“Alister is a songwriter of the highest order and a sign that the future of Australian blues is in good hands.” - Lloyd Spiegel, Premier Endorsee Cole Clark Guitars.
"It's refreshing to witness live a craftsman at work and Alister Turrill playing his lap steel guitar is one of those unique experiences." Michael Carrucan, Former Director of Queenscliff Music Festival.
It would be a generalisation to group Queenscliff’s Alister Turrill with other young roots players. His playing style blends a true form of blues with complex song writing seldom seen.
